The G7 countries plan to allocate 260 million euros for the repair of the protective shell of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was damaged as a result of a Russian strike. This was announced by Ukraine's Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal.

According to Shmyhal, the leadership in mobilizing international support belongs to the French Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, Roland Lescure. The estimated total cost of restoring infrastructure is at least 500 million euros.

The Ukrainian side plans to secure the necessary funding to cover the remaining needs during the donor conference, which will take place in Paris under the joint chairmanship of Ukraine, France, and the EBRD.

The SBU has classified the Russian strike on a nuclear fuel storage facility near the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant as an act of war. Earlier reports indicated that a Russian drone strike on June 7 partially destroyed the container receiving building, and that the facility did not contain spent nuclear fuel. The radiation level at the site remains within normal limits.
