The Security Service of Ukraine urges citizens to refrain from taking and sharing photos and videos of enemy attacks. This primarily refers to materials that document strikes on military targets and critical infrastructure, as well as the work of air defense systems.
The SBU explained that such records could be used not only by Russian propagandists, but also by Russian military personnel who monitor and analyze similar content in order to adjust repeated attacks.
Law enforcement officials may consider the publication of such content as a crime. Depending on the circumstances, such actions could be classified under Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – unauthorized dissemination of information about the movements of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and providing information to the state that is conducting armed aggression against Ukraine. The penalty for this article includes imprisonment for up to 12 years.
Operational units of the SBU systematically address cases of the spread of such materials online and hold their authors accountable.
