Sikorsky: Poland is discussing the possibility of intercepting Russian drones over Ukraine, but a decision has not yet been made.

Poland is discussing Ukraine's request to shoot down Russian drones over Ukrainian territory, but a final decision has not yet been reached, and it needs to be coordinated with NATO partners, according to Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski. Since October 1, Poland has simplified the rules for shooting down foreign aircraft in its airspace, and the government is preparing a bill on a "pre-war state" of emergency.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski confirmed that Warsaw is considering Ukraine's request to shoot down Russian drones over Ukrainian territory. According to him, a final decision has not yet been made; it needs to be coordinated with NATO partners, as Poland cannot make a decision on intercepting targets in the airspace of a neighboring state on its own.

Sikorski noted that the rules for the use of force in the border zone with Ukraine are changing, and Poland will adapt its security system to the new conditions. Starting on October 1, the country has simplified the rules for detecting and intercepting foreign aerial objects in its airspace – this is due to the regular mass attacks by Russia on Ukraine.

In addition, the Polish government is preparing a draft law regarding what is known as a "pre-war state." The document is intended to define the procedures to be followed in a situation where the country is not formally at war, but the level of threat significantly exceeds that of peacetime.
