The government will consider proposals from the public regarding budget savings — some regional programs have been postponed.

The Cabinet of Ministers, together with the Ministry of Finance, will consider proposals from local communities regarding adaptation to a strict austerity budget regime. This was announced by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky after a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

According to the head of the government, the reallocation of funds and the freezing of non-priority expenditures are necessary to prioritize funding for defense and social payments. The government has had to postpone the funding of certain regional programs in order to ensure uninterrupted payments to military personnel, salaries for government employees, and pensions.

The meeting included government officials, members of parliament, and the head of the State Treasury Service, Tetyana Slyuz. Koretsky noted that he understands the concerns of city and community leaders, but emphasized the importance of maintaining the financial stability of the state, and promised to consider each constructive proposal in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance.

To restore full funding for local needs, the government is working to meet the conditions for attracting international aid and stabilizing budget revenues. Consolidating public finances remains the main tool for ensuring the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and protecting critical sectors.
