Ministry of Energy Explains Reasons for Power Outages Even in Warm Weather
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has announced that power outages are occurring due to the fifth consecutive Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, which damage power plants, transmission networks, and regional power grids. Even in warm weather, power outages may occur in certain regions because there is no way to deliver electricity there.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has explained why power outages are occurring in the country, even in warm weather. According to the ministry, Russian forces are deliberately attacking the Ukrainian energy system for the fifth consecutive year, carrying out strikes on power plants, transmission networks that deliver electricity between regions, and regional power grids that deliver electricity to consumers.
Since September, the enemy has intensified attacks on the energy infrastructure, targeting various energy facilities simultaneously. This leads to the shutdown of power plants and disruptions in the transmission of already produced electricity to consumers through the high-voltage networks of “Ukrenergo” and the networks of regional energy companies. Therefore, even in warm weather, power outages may occur in certain regions, as there is no way to transmit electricity there.
The Ministry of Energy has also provided clarification on other issues. To check if there are emergency power outages in your region, you should refer to the information published by the Ministry of Energy, “Ukrenergo,” and your regional energy company on their official information platforms. During emergency outages, hourly schedules do not apply. If there are no emergency outages, but electricity is scheduled to be available, you should take into account the time required for switching between consumer groups, which ranges from 10 to 30 minutes.
Emergency shutdowns are a necessary and controlled measure that protects the energy system from further technological failures and ensures its continued operation. The key condition for the stable operation of the energy system is a constant balance between electricity generation and consumption. After the restoration of power, it is recommended to gradually turn on powerful electrical appliances to avoid the risk of overloading equipment and new failures.
