An online course about Yevhen Chaiklenko has been created in Ukraine.

The Kyiv School of Economics and the creative association MUR have launched a free online course about Eugene Chikalenko, a Ukrainian philanthropist and publisher. The educational project was created in anticipation of the premiere of the musical "Play, Mark," to help viewers better understand the historical context and the figure's contribution to Ukrainian culture.

The Kyiv School of Economics, in collaboration with the creative association MUR, has developed a free online course about the prominent Ukrainian public figure, philanthropist, agronomist, and publisher, Eugene Chikalenko.

The course lasts 90 minutes and covers the life and activities of Chikalenko in chronological order, starting from his childhood and the period in Kharkiv and ending with the events that led to the creation of the Ukrainian People's Republic. In addition, the course also tells about Chikalenko as an innovator and about the stories of his wife and daughter.

The lectures were based on research materials from historian Maksym Honchar. During the work with sources, the technology of optical character recognition (OCR) was also used, which allows for the digitization of scanned documents and simplifies the processing of historical materials.

The MUR emphasized that the guide does not contain spoilers and does not replace the play, but serves as a contextual addition that helps to better understand the historical details and motivations of the characters on stage. According to the creative team, "after it, you will be able to more easily recognize the historical details and follow what is happening on stage with even more interest. We have often said: our task is to interest and encourage further exploration. Because history does not end after the final scene. You write the rest of the story."

Anyone who is interested can take the course on the KSE platform. The course lasts approximately one hour. Participants can complete it online at their own pace, without a final test.
