Two online stores in Ukraine have been blocked that were selling Russian books.

In Ukraine, the online stores Knygarium and BOOBOOK, which sold books from Russian publishing houses linked to a sanctioned Russian citizen, have been blocked. A total of 49 such online stores have been blocked since July 2025 year.

The State Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine has announced the blocking of two more online stores that were selling books from the country's aggressor. These are Knygarium and BOOBOOK.

Sales of literature from Russian publishing houses "Эксмо", "АСТ" and "МИФ", which are associated with a citizen of the Russian Federation who is subject to sanctions from the National Security and Defense Council, were taking place on these platforms. In addition, the stores also sold literature published in Russia after the start of the full-scale invasion, which was illegally imported into Ukraine.

Shop owners concealed information about themselves and ignored the requirements of the State Committee for Television and Radio to remove prohibited products. As a result, the National Center for Operational Management of Networks made a decision to technically block them. Access to the websites will only be restored after the end of the martial law and upon full compliance with Ukrainian legislation.

In total, since July 2025, Ukrainian authorities have blocked 49 online bookstores that were distributing literature from Russia and Belarus. In addition, during the first half of 2026, over 1200 titles of prohibited publications were removed from sales. Almost 800 of these were being sold on the Prom.ua and Rozetka marketplaces.
