Ministers of foreign affairs from European Union countries have approved almost 1600 new sanctions against the Russian military-industrial complex. This was announced by the high representative of the EU for foreign affairs and security policy, Kaja Kallas.
According to her, this is the largest single expansion of the sanctions list since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. More than half of the new restrictions relate to the production chains of ballistic missiles.
Callas emphasized that the new restrictions are aimed at slowing down the production and distribution of Russian weapons and increasing the costs associated with them. She also stated that Europe is demonstrating unity in its efforts to counter Russian aggression.
