Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhny, during a meeting with Ukrainian students at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE), emphasized the importance of developing exact and natural sciences in Ukraine.
Zaluzhny emphasized that there are very few students in Ukraine studying physics and chemistry, and leading pedagogical universities are training only a small number of teachers in natural sciences. He pointed out a significant difference between Ukraine and Russia in the training of these specialists, noting that thousands of students in Russia obtain these specialties every year.
According to the diplomat, a technologically strong state cannot be built without its own science, quality education, and the training of specialists in natural and technical fields. He emphasized that in a situation where the country's security increasingly depends on technology, the development of these fields is of particular importance. Zaluzhny stressed the need to foster interest in exact sciences in middle school, when children begin to decide on their future profession.
During the meeting, Zaluzhny spoke with over 350 Ukrainian students who had come from various cities and countries to study. He urged young people to love their profession, create new meaning, and remain worthy individuals. He concluded by stating that the formula for the future is simple: strong education leads to strong national security.
