Zelenskyy and von der Leyen discussed Russia's attacks on energy infrastructure and assistance from the EU in the amount of €3 billion.

A Russian Shahed drone struck an energy facility in Kyiv, causing power outages in many areas, and later, Russia attacked energy facilities in Kharkiv – this occurred after Donald Trump's announcement of an energy ceasefire. Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, about this. Ukraine has already received €1,24 billion in defense aid, and the EU plans to provide an additional €3 billion next week.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy October 11 informed Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, about Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure that occurred after US President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire in the energy sector.

According to Zelenskyy, shortly before the conversation, a Russian Shahed-type drone struck an electricity plant in Kyiv, causing power outages in many areas of the city. Later, Russian forces attacked energy facilities in the Kharkiv region. The President emphasized that this occurred after the announcement of a ceasefire in the energy sector.

The day before, Trump stated that there should be an energy truce between Ukraine and Russia, and called on the parties to stop attacks on energy infrastructure. This statement came as a surprise to the Ukrainian authorities. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to stop strikes on Russian energy facilities if Russia also stops attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities, calling the initiative good news and stating that the military has received the corresponding orders. At the same time, Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities continued.

During the conversation, the parties discussed further support for Ukraine and coordination of joint actions; teams from Ukraine and the European Commission will thoroughly examine the next steps. Zelensky thanked von der Leyen for the already received €1,24 billion in defense aid, earmarked for strengthening the Ukrainian defense industry and the purchase of drones, drone interceptors, ammunition for them, and Ukrainian-made rockets.

The head of the European Commission confirmed that next week, the EU plans to allocate another approximately €3 billion in military aid. Separately, the discussion focused on the opening of negotiation clusters as part of Ukraine's accession to the EU: according to Zelensky, Ukraine is preparing for this process and expects to be able to open the remaining clusters by the end of the year.
