Zelenskyy at the Warsaw Forum: energy truce is only possible if it is mutual

At the Warsaw Security Forum, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine supports a cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure, but only on the condition of reciprocity. According to him, Russia should stop attacks on Ukrainian critical infrastructure if it wants to protect its oil refineries from Ukrainian drones. If Moscow does not agree to a genuine ceasefire in the winter, Ukraine will respond symmetrically.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, stated that Ukraine supports the idea of ceasing attacks on energy infrastructure, but insists on fair and reciprocal conditions.

According to him, Russia must stop destroying Ukrainian critical infrastructure if it wants to protect its own oil refineries from Ukrainian drones. Zelenskyy noted that the American team is fully informed about the specifics of the Ukrainian energy system.

The President reminded that the massive attacks by Russia on energy infrastructure had already begun after Donald Trump's post on Truth Social about the so-called "energy truce," and he called this statement new to him. The White House later clarified that this primarily refers to the cessation of reciprocal attacks on oil refineries.

Zelenskyy noted that daily power outages are occurring in Ukraine due to Russian attacks, while retaliatory strikes against Russia's oil infrastructure are painful for the country. If Moscow does not agree to a genuine energy truce in the winter, Ukraine will respond in kind, the president stated.
