President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his speech at the Warsaw Security Forum, stated that a major grain crisis will begin in the world within two to three months.
According to his assessment, Russian diesel fuel supplies of between 300 and 500 thousand tons per month do not have the preconditions to significantly shift the balance of the global market, as global consumption is approximately 120 million tons per month. He noted that the decision on US cooperation with Russia in the energy sector is based on other factors than the impact of these volumes on the market.
Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's crucial role in ensuring the safety of maritime navigation and controlling the activities of Russian oil refineries. He expressed surprise at the lack of a direct agreement between the US and Ukraine regarding diesel fuel and stated the need for pragmatic agreements, as it is the Ukrainian side that directly influences the movement of ships in the region.
Previously, US President Donald Trump announced agreements regarding an "energy truce" between Ukraine and Russia. Subsequently, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the ceasefire had been violated by Russian forces, and the official government of Kyiv confirmed its willingness to sign guarantees for a ceasefire and is awaiting detailed information from the US regarding negotiations with Moscow.
