Zelenskyy: SBU created a drone interceptor against "Shaheds" and has already used it

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has created a new drone interceptor to counter "Shaheds" and has already successfully used it. He wrote about this on social media after a report by the head of the SBU, Oleksandr Polishuk.

Zelenskyy published a video of the new interceptor in action, according to him, showing the downing of a Russian "Geran-5" drone.

The President called this a good result of the work of the military counterintelligence of the SBU and noted that Ukraine is gradually increasing its defenses. He thanked the developers and manufacturers who are working on scaling this type of weapon.

Previously, on September 15, a new system for intercepting Russian drones was successfully tested in Ukraine. Later, it became known about the state's plans to scale up the production of this weapon.

On September 18, Zelensky clarified the situation regarding funding: two domestic companies confirmed the effectiveness of their developments and were preparing to sign contracts, but there are currently insufficient funds for mass production of the interceptors. To address this issue, Ukraine plans to seek funding from European partners.
